KHUDEI: The most commonly used traditional male loincloth for Meitei.

Khudei is a particular kind of male loincloth used by the Meiteis,is found in chequer weaving design throughout the body of the cloth with plain border strips in distinct colour.This chequer design is shown in varying colour patterns and in varying sizes of the square .The check design in different schemes of colour combination characteristics the artistic motif shown in the Meitei male loincloth Khudei.This type of cloth is usually made of cotton.

How it is worn?

It is a proto-type of the Hindustani style of wearing dhoti, but the cloth used is shorter both in length and breadth .The cloth is worn round the waist and it is tight securely at the mid abdomen, at its half length. The left inner free end is gathered to the front and is passed between the legs to be tucked in behind. The right outer end is folded and its upper end is tucked in at the abdomen to the front and the lower border does not reach down below the knees.This kind of loincloth in the said design is used commonly in daily life.
